The Avania Group has proven government relations experience having worked collaboratively for decades with legislative bodies, executive officials, key stakeholders, industry leaders, advocacy groups and government officials to formulate legislative agendas. We use our extensive knowledge of agency processes to advise clients regarding upcoming policy proposals. At the same time we understand how those proposals may impact client operations and advocate the client’s position before the government. The result is our client’s ability to develop the industry and if necessary, to timely adjust its operations to maximize return on investment.
Our Team:
- Acts as a liaison to and advocates before federal, state, and local government officials and their staffs
- Reviews the status of pending legislation by tracking bills and fiscal notes
- Briefs and counsels the client on the implications and status of pending legislative, administrative and regulatory matters
- Provides input on amendments, fiscal notes and regulations
- Prepares and presents written and oral testimony at work sessions and public hearings
- Uses negotiating skills to discover more workable and less costly alternatives
- Works to identify, create, and coordinate formal and informal issue-based coalitions to include key opinion leaders, community organizations and advocacy groups to assist in promoting the clients’ strategic policy agenda
- Monitors and participates in activities to help shape future political and regulatory agendas and to provide a succinct and timely analysis of emerging issues
- Takes the lead on many esoteric issues
- Enjoys a high level of respect from policymakers and colleagues
Lobbying/Regulatory Oversight
Our team provides awareness of key events, meetings, regulatory decisions, working groups, and other key activities and client participation requirements. We identify legislative and regulatory changes that may impact our client’s operations and long term business strategy and develop positions of influence to ensure client interests are reflected to the best advantage. We provide analysis and background information to develop, recommend and pursue acceptance of client positions through influencing changes to laws and regulations or lobbying for new changes.
Our Team:
- Represents the client before regulatory agencies and commissions
- Guides client’s projects through an agencies’ approval process
- Participates in work sessions to craft new regulations
- Reviews and communicates revisions to promote client compliance
- Interacts with organizational operations to assist in the identification of corrective actions or modifications
Political Awareness
The Avania Group is suited to function as our client’s political strategist and government/industry relations consultant. We are expert at understanding political realities, which are not necessarily obvious. We work with clients to develop position papers and provide executive leadership with analysis, strategic options, and recommendations. Our team compiles, shapes and synthesizes analysis for executive management strategy presentations in tandem with client managers.

- Works with client consistently and proactively to determine which processes or areas throughout its organization needs to be monitored
- Identifies what information needs to be obtained
- Advises in proactively establishing advanced systems to monitor activities or outputs that provide timely and pertinent information with minimal interruption
- Works with client to collect and review data on a regular basis to determine progress, anticipate needs, and make necessary adjustments while maintaining compliance
